What does a Doula
Birth is monumental, and has far-reaching effects in a mother's life. A doula is there to help you achieve as satisfying and empowering a birth as possible. We are there to prepare for the birth through helping you craft a birth plan, provide comfort measures during labor, enable you to effectively communicate your wishes to your provider, support you in your wishes for labor and birth, assist with the first feedings, and ensure that you receive the information you need to make educated decisions about your care and options.

Is a doula necessary? Of course not. Is a doula helpful? Absolutely. A doula can be the means of achieving the kind of birth you're envisioning, especially if your previous birth(s) didn't go as planned. A doula is there to help calm you, encourage you, help communicate your wishes for your care, and be there as another set of hands to ensure you receive continuous support while allowing your partner to take care of his/her needs.
A doula is there to help educate you as a couple about your options so you can make educated decisions and have a satisfying, empowering, and enjoyable birth no matter the outcome.
