“Labor and delivery are unpredictable especially when it’s your first time. A lot of things didn’t go as planned for us. Looking back, I couldn’t imagine doing it without our doula, Carly. She stayed with us from early labor through a home birth and hospital transfer, from evening through the next afternoon. She helped us navigate all those early moments when there doesn’t seem to be enough hands and everyone is in a daze. She took amazing photos of the birth which will be great memories for year to come. She helped both of us during that postpartum period with everything — from figuring out how to take care of our newborn, to folding the laundry and scrubbing our tub. Looking back, we can’t imagine going through this experience without Carly by our side.”

“I’m so glad [Carly] helped me with my first childbirth and parenting! She is amazing! She helped me make my birth plan and I learned many things for my labor and delivery with her. During my labor, she encouraged me all the time so I was less scared of a surprise c-section. When I woke up from anesthesia after my c section, she was holding my hand and I was really relieved. After my baby and I left the hospital, she helped teach us breastfeeding, taking care of the baby, and cleaned our house. After birth, I was stressed about breastfeeding because my baby was in the NICU, and I couldn't get enough practice breastfeeding or skin to skin. I really didn't know how to breastfeed, and I was thinking of giving up. However, my awesome doula taught us about how to breastfeed so I could start doing it! My baby and I are so happy we now are successfully breastfeeding! We love her!".

“As a first time Mom, I wanted to do everything I could to prepare myself for the experience of labor but also realized that birth could be unpredictable. Carly helped my husband and I to feel educated and informed on everything that could potentially happen in the delivery room and afterwards prior to the big day. Because of her, nothing felt like a surprise during our delivery and we were able to navigate every decision confidently. We are so happy with how our birth went, and know it would not have been possible without Carly. She was there to help us confidently navigate the hospital room, she held my hand during each contraction and helped to make me as comfortable as possible. She advocated for my wants laid out in my birth plan when the time came, and supported and created space for my husband to be an incredible birth partner. Carly stayed in our room after delivery to help me with breastfeeding, something she has continued to check in on and support me with over the first weeks postpartum.
I can’t quite put into words how grateful I am to Carly for the support she provided during my delivery experience, and feel like I was able to have exactly the delivery I wanted because of her.
